Södra Teatern, located on a hill overlooking the city in the bohemian district of Södermalm, is this year’s unconventional conference venue for the VSE Annual Conference and General Meeting in Stockholm. It’s a charming and much loved mid-19th century theatre in a a multi-storey house with several rooms available to us during the workshop blocks. Södra Teatern also boasts several terraces and balconies with views of the city as well as a converted bowling alley from the late 19th century.

The main stage with its gold ornaments, red velvet chairs and two balconies is one of Stockholm’s busiest and best concert and performance venues. It was the filming location for the theatre scenes in Ingmar Bergman‘s Academy Award-winning film Fanny and Alexander (1982).
